Scarborough borough's Covid rate falls to half the national average

The most recent figures available show the seven-day infection rate for the borough were 30 per 100,000, as of March 4.

The figure puts Scarborough as having the second lowest rate in North Yorkshire and well below the national average of 62 per 100,000.

Neighbouring Ryedale has a rate of just 16 per 100,000.

A coronavirus testing site continues to open every day at William Street Car Park in Scarborough.

Mobile testing units are running at Whitby Marina Car Park and Wentworth Street Car Park in Malton today and Thursday.

There will also be a testing unit at North Yorks Moors National Park Authority Car Park in Thornton-le-Dale tomorrow.
