The borough’s seven-day infection rate per 100,000 people is once again 30, which remains the lowest level in North Yorkshire.

The borough continues to average five new cases every day.

A mobile test collection service will be at Whitby’s Park and Ride site in Guisborough Road between 9am and 3pm in order for eligible people to pick up home testing kits.

In an email to residents North Yorkshire County Council chief executive Richard Flinton explained: “This week we believe we are the first area in the country to launch a mobile community collect service.

“This means that eligible people – at the moment the households and bubbles of pupils, students and staff at schools, nurseries and colleges – can collect home testing kits from a mobile drop off point – reducing the need to travel.”

Mobile testing facilities will once again be available in Whitby, Scarborough and Filey this weekend for anyone with symptoms to get tested.
