Yoga teacher brings new wellbeing opportunities to Scarborough area
A Scarborough yoga teacher is helping people across the area explore the benefits of movement and relaxation, with weekly community classes and a partnership with a mental health charity.
Yoga teacher Stacey Taylor has founded Willows Yoga Therapy, with the aim to offer accessible yoga for all abilities.
Stacey’s weekly community classes at Snainton Village Hall combine mindful movement with time to relax.
Stacey said: “I wanted to create a space where people can come exactly as they are, without feeling that they need to be flexible, experienced or ‘good’ at yoga.

"For me, it’s about finding that balance between moving, building strength and challenging ourselves, while recognising when we need to slow down.
"It’s about reconnecting with your body and giving something back to yourself, even if that’s simply an hour out of a busy week.”
Alongside her community classes, Stacey is working with Scarborough, Whitby & Ryedale Mind to offer yoga as a way for people to support their mental health.
Currently running a course at The Scarborough Buddhist Centre, a new six-week course will follow from November 3 to December 8, giving people the opportunity to try yoga in a supportive environment.
Hayley Doubtfire, Deputy CEO at the Mind branch, said: “We’re really pleased to be working with Stacey.
“Everyone is different, and what helps one person look after their mental health won’t necessarily work for someone else.
“This gives people a chance to try something new and see what works for them, in a space where they can go at their own pace.”
Bookings can be made at swrmind.org.uk/event/yoga-for-wellbeing-3/ and are now open.
