The townships of Falsgrave and Scarborough were united into one in 1890. Since then the area has changed dramatically but has always been a busy part of town. These pictures from the 80s and 90s show some shops and landmarks that remain today and some that have since disappeared - take a walk down memory lane.
1. Falsgrave
Of all the shops in this picture from 1995, only one remains today - J. G. Squire Chemist. Bakery chain Woodhead is now Falsgrave Funeral Service and wedding shop Primadonna is Aim High Online Ltd.
2. Falsgrave
This picture from 1989 shows Motorworld. The building now houses Tower Estates. Do you remember buying motoring goods in here?
3. Falsgrave
Cooplands can just be seen on the corner, where it is still found today.
4. Falsgrave
In this photo from 1989 a gentleman can be seen picking his paper up from the newsagents. Today he would be collecting a pizza as the building is now a takeaway. The pet shop next door, however, is still there.
