Mr Khan's shop on Falsgrave Road. An amiable gent to everyone, his shop opened very early until very late, in the days before convenience stores that now do the same. And he even opened on Christmas Day. Another fondly remembered character was the Pundit Palmist, at the bottom of Bland's Cliff.

Scarborough's Boxing Day traditions on the seafront ... the Fishermen v Firemen beach football match, Ladies Day (a chance for the ladies to tour the pubs), the harbour raft race and mile of pennies.

Galaland, at the Aquarium Top roundabout. Once an indoor, underground "pleasure palace", and previously The People's Palace and Aquarium. The entertainments complex was demolished in 1968 to make way for an underground car park.
