Last year's Whitby Christmas Festival was unable to take place but in light of recent government announcements, the council is hopeful for a 2021 market - and preparations have now begun.
This year's festival will be held on a smaller scale, without the associated events such as entertainment marquee, festival stage, street theatre or lantern parade.
Stallholders are being asked to apply by Wednesday July 31 for their place at this year's market.
If, in the event this year's market cannot go ahead due to the ongoing pandemic, the town council has plans in place to ensure any money stallholders have paid towards their stall will be refunded in full.

"Each year we strive to build on our successes and make improvements where possible," the council said.
"We would love to hear your feedback so we can make the festival even better in the future."
