1. Coastival. More than 100 events – mostly free – with music, film, art and Rollercoastival activities for the little ones in various venues around Scarborough today (Saturday) and tomorrow (Sunday). Full details here.

2. Get creative at the Rotunda Museum. Fossil handling, Tuesday, 10.30am-noon and 1.30pm-3pm; make your own sea monsters, Thursday, 10.30am-noon and 1.30pm-3pm.

3. Discovery Day. Monday, 9.30am to 3.30pm, Scarborough Art Gallery, £16 per child or £12 each per sibling. A chance for five to 12-year-olds to get messy with ceramics – book on 01723 374753.

4.Teddy Bear Week. Every child that brings a full paying adult, and most importantly a teddy bear with them, travels for free on the North York Moors Railway between tomorrow (Sunday) and February 22.

5. Horrid History Walks. An 18th century customs officer will lead you through spooky old town back streets, alleys and graveyards, from seafront blue police box, today (Saturday), tomorrow (Sunday) and Thursday January 18-Sunday January 22, 2pm.
