The Flavours of Yorkshire Festival was held at Galtres Park in Pickering across the weekend – with celebrity Yorkshire chef James Martin the headline attraction.
While he has been a fixture on our TV screens for decades, the festival is a new event organised by Mark Brayshaw of Rockin’ Horse Promotions, who ran Malton’s renowned Food Lovers Festival for many years.
As well as celebrity chefs and cooking demonstrations, visitors also enjoyed artisan food and drink traders, street food stalls, BBQ competition, family entertainment and fairground rides.
Unusually for such an event, entry was free and so was car parking for visitors to the site.
The move was made by the organisers so visitors could save their cash to support the local suppliers and businesses who had stalls at the event.
Speaking ahead of the festival, Martin said: "It is just around the corner from home and it is nice to do something that is right on your doorstep.
"It is coming home. I went to school in Malton, and then a little bit of college in Scarborough, so I know the area really well.
"Yorkshire is really a gastronomic hotspot now, so it's good to come back and support it.”
