Scarborough named UK's best-rated ice cream destination as Bridlington also makes top 10
Scarborough has been named the UK’s best-rated ice cream stop in a new review-led ranking, with Bridlington also making the top 10 list.
Crema E Cioccolato Scarborough took the top local spot with a 5.0 rating from 219 reviews, putting the North Yorkshire resort ahead of Bournemouth, Newlyn, Oxford and Blackpool in the checked sample.

Data specialists at SEO Backlinks reviewed public listings for popular ice cream shops, gelato bars and dessert cafés across UK towns and cities, then ranked each place by the highest-rated eligible ice cream venue found there.
The result puts Scarborough at the front of a very contentious list, with the town’s seafront, South Bay and family day-out trade giving the ranking a strong local flavour. Bridlington also made the top 10, giving the Yorkshire coast two entries in the national snapshot. Its Tophams Ice Cream Parlour was listed with a 4.2 score from 58 Google reviews.

The UK towns and cities with the best-rated ice cream shops are:
- Scarborough, Crema E Cioccolato Scarborough, 5.0 from 219 reviews (Tripadvisor)
- Bournemouth, Picnic Park Deli, 4.9 from 377 reviews (Tripadvisor ice cream category listing)
- Newlyn, Jelbert’s, 4.8 from 469 reviews (Tripadvisor)
- Oxford, IScream Oxford, 4.8 from 196 reviews (Tripadvisor)
- Blackpool, Notarianni Ice Cream, 4.7 from 621 reviews (Tripadvisor)
- Brighton, Boho Gelato, 4.6 from 476 reviews (Tripadvisor)

- Liverpool and Wirral, Caffe Cream, 4.4 from more than 1,000 reviews (Google reviews LiverpoolWorld)
- Bridlington, Tophams Ice Cream Parlour, 4.2 from 58 reviews (Google reviews, Welcome to Yorkshire)
Scarborough was the only place in the checked list to pair a perfect 5.0 rating with more than 200 reviews, making its result stronger than a small handful of five-star comments.
The ranking shows why online visibility can be especially important for small food businesses in summer towns, where a sunny afternoon can bring a rush of high-intent searches from people already nearby.
A spokesperson for SEO Backlinks said: “Ice cream is one of those impulse searches where people are often already out with their family, phone in hand, looking for somewhere nearby.
“A high rating, recent reviews and clear local visibility can turn that search into footfall very quickly. For small dessert shops, the difference between being easy to find and being buried below competitors can be the difference between a quiet afternoon and a queue out the door. ”
The analysis was a snapshot rather than a definitive audit of every ice cream seller in the UK. Ratings can change as new reviews are added, and some venues appear on different review platforms with different scores. Visit https://seobacklinks.co.uk/ for more information.
