New Cinder Track Ranger job boasts breathtaking views, and it could be yours!

Scarborough Borough Council is advertising for a new Cinder Track Maintenance Ranger who will play a key role in delivering the council's restoration plan along the disused railway line.
The council is recruiting a permanent Ranger post to repair, maintain and enhance the track to maintain the integrity and accessibility of the track.

Hide AdThe job would come with stunning sea and countryside views as well as heritage sites including the spectacular 13-arch Larpool Viaduct near Whitby.
In a Facebook post, Scarborough Borough Council said: "We are looking for a really special person who can bring a rare blend of skills to the new role, both practical skills in countryside management and a confident outgoing personality who can work with the public, communities and volunteers."
The role pays in the region of £22-24,000 with applications closing at 12 noon on February 3.
In 2019, an ambitious scheme to restore the condition of the Cinder Track began and the first stage is now complete.

Hide AdThe £3.5 million project to restore the track received council backing in 2018. The initial plans raised the possibility of eventually opening a visitor centre, cafe and car park to generate revenue for maintaining the route.
The Cinder Track follows the route of the old railway from Scarborough to Whitby. The railway was in use from 1885 to 1965, and after it closed, Scarborough Borough Council bought the line.
The track gets its name from the ballast used on the line, which was made from cinders rather than crushed stone.
