Humberside and South Yorkshire ACF has units and detachments across the region, including Bridlington, Hull and Beverley.

Col Fox will be based at the ACF HQ in Driffield.

Col Fox said: “I hadn’t considered getting involved with the Army Cadet Force before.

“But I’d served with Colonel Wilkinson at various times throughout my military career and we were very good friends.

“When he decided to retire he urged me to think about going for the post, which I did.

“This is a huge challenge for me, but one that I’m relishing. I’m planning to re-engage with the Regular Army and the Army Reserve, which I hope will give our cadets and volunteers some inspiration and I’m also looking at taking a contingent of cadets overseas to undertake some charity work.

“There’s a lot to do but I’m confident that as a team we can build on the great work of my predecessor and make Humberside and South Yorkshire ACF a fantastic organisation to be part of.”
