With less than 100 days to go until this year's Tour de Yorkshire, Scarborough Borough Council is supporting the drive by Welcome to Yorkshire to recruit '˜Tour Makers'.

Welcome to Yorkshire is working in partnership with regional police forces to look for a passionate and reliable team of volunteers, known as Tour Makers, which will be part of the spirit of the race and be the welcoming face of Yorkshire for spectators.

Anyone interested in becoming a Tour Maker needs to complete a short online survey, at www.letour.yorkshire.com/tour-makers. Volunteers will need to attend a police led training session and be available for the race weekend on Friday April 29, Saturday April 30 and Sunday May 1. Cllr Andrew Backhouse, Scarborough Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism, Leisure and Culture said:“We want to give local people in every town and village on the route of the Tour de Yorkshire this opportunity to become a Tour de Yorkshire volunteer.”
