Bridlington stalwart fireman honoured for long service

A long-serving retained fireman has been honoured by colleagues at a special ceremony marking his retirement after 31 years of service.

Alec Pashley, 57, retired from the Service on September 10 and was formerly congratulated for his steadfast commitment to serving the community at Bridlington Fire Station on Thursday October 20.

He was presented with a commemorative fire axe and certificate by chief fire officer Dene Sanders.

Mr Pashley said: “It’s always been about helping the community.

“I’ve seen some really difficult fires here and seen really bad things. But there’s always the happy side to serving in the fire brigade and I’ve really enjoyed serving here.”
