Car flips onto roof in crash on 'wintry' Scarborough to Whitby road

Police were called to the A171 at Pond Hill at 11.10am after the two-car accident.

One of the cars - a grey Hyundai i30 - ended up on its roof.

Officers said neither the people inside the Hyundai nor those in the other car involved - a red Citroen C1 - were seriously injured.

The road was shut for around three hours while emergency services worked at the scene and the vehicles were recovered.

Police said cars caught up in tailbacks were turned around and described the weather conditions as "wintry".
