The convent, although a memory for us now, was an imposing building in our town for many of the older generation here in Scarborough and from away. Reunions have been held once every three years since the school closed.
You kindly ran a story when we were fundraising to move the statue of the Sacred Heart that once graced the grounds of our old convent (now housing association accommodation on Queen Street). We gather to thank the girls for their contribution to the financial support generously given at the past two reunions.
It is always surprising how many return to celebrate old friendships and this year we have 120 attending. The sister of Sister Ancilla is going to join us from Ireland, you featured her obituary recently, Agnes O’Shea.
We would like to thank you for the article which generated the remaining £600 we needed at that time.
