Chance to keep your mid-life health in check at free drop-in

North Yorkshire County Council is offering free drop-in NHS Health Checks for the over-40s at mobile clinics in and around Scarborough as well as farming communities across the county.

These quick and easy checks can be a lifesaver by picking up on warning signs of serious illnesses such as heart disease, stroke and diabetes.

Anyone aged 40 to 74 who hasn’t previously been diagnosed with heart disease, diabetes or chronic kidney disease and has not had an NHS Health Check in the last five years can benefit from one of these free ‘mid-life MoTs’.

“It’s well worth having a free NHS Health Check, even if you feel well in yourself,” said county councillor David Chance, executive member for Stronger Communities and Public Health.

“Some conditions, like high blood pressure, don’t have obvious symptoms, so you might not know you have them. Getting the right advice and support now can help reduce your chances of developing more serious conditions in the
future.”
