It happened at around 9pm yesterday. Humber Coastguard launched a multi-agency response for the two people in the water at Paddy’s Hole, South Gare, Redcar.

Among the emergency responders was Staithes coastguard team, along with other coastguards, Redcar lifeboat and ambulance and police staff.

A Coastguard helicopter was also tasked but stood down due to the patient being located in the water before their arrival.

The patient was recovered from the water by RNLI Redcar and transported by boat to Teesport, and then to James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough.

For all incidents and emergencies on the coast, immediately dial 999 and ask for Coastguard.
