CRAMS software company aiming to create 16 jobs

A successful female entrepreneur from Scarborough has set up a software company that aims to bring up to 16 highly skilled jobs to the area.

Jo Thompson, owner of Spectrum Cleaning Solutions, which has been established in the town for more than 20 years, has started a new venture with two fellow directors.

They realised there was a gap in the market for a way to easily assess and record health and safety risk assessments with integrated competency training, in real-time. After extensive research they decided to build a service themselves.

The new service, called CRAMS, was launched by Scarborough and Whitby MP Robert Goodwill. It has been tested by a number of Yorkshire companies and will be available nationwide this month.

The firm received funding from Business Enterprise Fund, Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund, Street UK and Scarborough Borough Council.

Jo said: “Having seen our clients struggle with this problem for years and realised there was nothing there to help them, we decided to develop it ourselves.

“As a board member of Scarborough Business Ambassadors Ltd, it’s great to be a part of a young business that will help to develop Scarborough into a dynamic, entrepreneurial town, alongside other initiatives such as the UTC.”
