15-year-old girl grabbed by the throat in Scarborough as police appeal for witnesses

A 15-year-old girl has been assaulted in Scarborough whilst out walking with friends.

The girl was walking down Wreyfield Drive with friends at 9.15pm on Sunday, May 9 when she was approached by a man.

The man had initially shouted at the group before approaching the girl and grabbing her around the throat. After assaulting her he fled in the direction of Scalby Road.

He is described as white, around six feet tall, of medium build and aged between 30 and 40-years-old. He has very short dark hair, was unshaven and was wearing a dark Nike hooded top with a white tick on the front, a dark jacket and black trousers.

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses and information about the incident to help with their inquiries.
