Bridlington man sentenced over shop thefts
A Bridlington man has been sentenced after pleading guilty to a series of shop thefts.
On Tuesday, April 28, Danny Carney, 36, of Carnaby Avenue, was arrested and interviewed in relation to a series of shop thefts in the area.

He was subsequently charged with six counts of theft from shop and remanded to appear at court on Wednesday, April 29.
Carney pleaded guilty to all six offences and as a result has been sentenced to an 18-week imprisonment, which was suspended for 12 months. Investigating officer, PC Atkinson said: “Carney has shown a blatant disregard for the property of others and the impact his offending has not only on local businesses but also on the wider community. If further offences are committed, this sentence could be put into effect and can result in a custodial term.
“We encourage local businesses to report any incidents of shop theft so that we can take appropriate enforcement action against those responsible.’’
