Court orders closure of property in Scarborough following anti-social behaviour
Following repeated and persistent complaints of anti-social behaviour and crime, a property in Maria's Court on Queen Street in Scarborough has been closed by York Magistrates Court for three months.
Officers from Scarborough’s Neighbourhood Policing Team, working with partner agencies within the Community Safety Hub, including North Yorkshire Council and housing providers, decided to take action following complaints from the local community.

North Yorkshire Police applied for the closure order which was granted at court on Friday January 16 2026.
With the court order in place, this prohibits any person remaining on or entering the premises for three months, until April 15 2026.
A person commits an offence if they remain on or enter the premises in breach of the closure order, which may result in a maximum of 51 weeks imprisonment, a fine, or both.
PC Scott Sunderland said, “We are working with our community to send the message that anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated.
"We are committed to keeping our communities safe and I hope that this closure order helps in reassuring our residents that we will do all we can to reduce the impact of anti-social behaviour on the community.”
