Man fails breath test and later in the day fails drug test in Scarborough

It was an unlucky 24 hours for one visitor to Scarborough this weekend, as in the early hours of Sunday morning, (November 30) police stopped a vehicle.

Following a roadside breath test, the 34-year-old Selby man was arrested after blowing 82 micrograms of alcohol on 100 millilitres of breath at the roadside, with the legal limit being 35 micrograms.

He has now been charged as he provided an evidential reading of 62 micrograms in custody and will face Scarborough Magistrates Court on Monday December 15.

Unfortunately for the man, he was stopped again by officers at 9:20pm on Seamer Road, where this time, he failed a roadside drug test and was arrested.

He has been released under investigation as police await the results of the evidential blood test.
