Scarborough Anti Theft Group has teamed up with officers from North Yorkshire Police to launch Operation Snowstorm.

The operation, which launches on Friday December 1, brings together North Yorkshire Police's five main operations that look at anti-social behaviour, road safety, theft and the night-time economy.

In the run up to Christmas, officers will conduct high visibility patrols through areas identified as high demand, as well as targeting individuals that are repeat offenders.

The aim of the operation is to increase prosecutions for theft offences in Scarborough, reduce anti-social behaviour and alcohol-related disorder and to make the public feel safe.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “We would urge the public to report all incidents to us via 101 or online, alternatively Crimestoppers is there for those who wish to remain anonymous.”
