Police teams step up speed enforcement checks
Humberside Police teams are stepping up speed enforcement checks following concerns from residents.
The officers will be targeting specific roads across the county to ‘maximise the impact and safety to our communities’.

The force also scotched myths that officers do not hide in trees or pop out from bushes, and the fines do not go towards our Christmas party fund.
A Humberside Police spokesperson, via Facebook, said: “When your local community team are conducting speed enforcement we will be in high visibility police uniform stood next to or a near a large fully marked police vehicle. Safety and casualty reduction are at the forefront of all action taken.
“The speed limit is just that: a maximum limit – not a target. It is in place for everyone’s safety.
“If you are travelling over the speed limit you are putting yourself and others at risk. If caught you could face a number of consequences for further enforcement action ranging from being offered a speed awareness course, traffic offence report (speeding ticket), a minimum fine of £100, upwards and including three penalty points on your driving licence, summons to court, disqualification from driving, along with being dealt with for any further offences.
“Contrary to popular belief we do not hide in trees or pop out from bushes, and the fines do not go towards our Christmas party fund.
“If you witness any traffic offences caught on camera / dash cam, video evidence can be submitted online, via https://ow.ly/WnCP50YssMi which is assessed under Operation Snap, a Humberside Police initiative to address road safety.
“You could also support your local Community Speedwatch group by contacting your Parish Council to register your interest and details can be passed on for further information.
“We know, just by the nature of police presence in an area, that traffic will slow down during our patrols however we will continue to prioritise the issues raised in our communities
“If our findings raise further concerns we will pass information on to partner agencies such as Safer Roads Humber or East Riding of Yorkshire Council to consider any further longer term action to reduce offences.”
