Police warn drivers over conduct while passing horses
Humberside Police is urging drivers to be considerate when travelling past horses and their riders on the area’s roads.
The message comes after a number of reports to the force about motorists going too close to horses over the festive period.

Officers also said cars are going too fast when encountering the riders.
A police spokesperson said: “Over the festive period we have received several complaints of drivers passing horse riders in a dangerous manner – including on Christmas Day!
“10mph is the speed advised to pass horses on the road, using a distance of two metres to overtake safely.
“We will take action against all evidenced complaints of poor and dangerous driving, and you can submit hat cam footage of any incidents to Operation Snap at tinyurl.com/56f5cdfk
“To ensure you are easily seen on the road, all horses, cyclists and pedestrians are strongly advised to wear high visibility items at all times of the year – but particularly in the dreary days of winter.
“Always think motorists, aircraft and drones… if they can see you, they can safely navigate around you.”
