Humberside Police say there have been several recent attempts to con people in the Bridlington area.

A spokesperson for the force said: "One incident was in the form of a text message perpetrating to be from a mobile phone provider stating they were unable to process bills and in order to avoid fees the recipient needed to click on a link to update their billing information.

"If you are in any doubt over the authenticity of the contact please do not respond in any way and do not pass any personal or bank information.

"Advice would be to make a separate call to the company in question to report the suspicious contact and to check whether it was genuine or not.

"If you suspect you have been a victim of fraud please contact police on 101 and visit the action fraud website to report the incident."
