Police warning to pet owners after public calls over white Ford Transit van

Humberside police is warning dog owners to be on their guard following the theft of pets in the East Riding area.

In particular they are telling people to be aware of a white transit van that may be involved in the pet crime.

A police spokesman said: “Please be aware we are getting numerous calls in with regards to a white Ford Transit van believed to be involved in the possible theft of dogs.

“If you see anything suspicious please contact the police on 101. Please be vigilant:

“Do not leave your animals unattended in a garden.

“Do not leave them outside a shop whilst inside.

“Make sure your dog is microchipped/tattooed and any unusual markings noted.

“Vary your dog walking routine.

“Be wary of strangers paying interest in your pet.”
