Officers from North Yorkshire Police's Roads Policing Group found suspected cannabis in the pocket of one driver, who also failed an alcohol roadside breath test and was found to be driving while disqualified and without insurance.

He had been stopped in Eastfield in a blue Renault with a front seat passenger who was the owner of the car, who police reported for permitting someone to drive without a licence or insurance.

Three more drivers were stopped in Scarborough and found to be driving under the influence of cannabis. They were all arrested.

Another driver was found to be driving without insurance and while disqualified after being stopped in Scarborough.

And the driver of a black Peugeot was discovered to be driving with only a provisional licence in Eastfield but without any learner plates or supervising driver.

That driver's car was seized and they were issued with a traffic offence report.
