Two men arrested after street brawl in Whitby leaves man with serious injury

Two men have been arrested after a street brawl in Whitby left a man seriously injured.

Police have issued an appeal for witnesses following a street brawl between men near the taxi rank in New Quay Road in the early hours of December 21.

It happened at about 2.30am and left one man suffering from a serious injury, resulting in admission to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough.

Two men were arrested in connection with the incident and have been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

Officers are asking members of the public to get in touch as they believe there was a large crowd that gathered and watched events unfold and they will have information that will help the investigation. There may also be vehicle dash cam footage of the incident.
