Director named first branch ambassador

Peter Wilkinson has been named as the first Institute of Directors Branch Ambassador (IBA) in Yorkshire and the Humber.

The newly-launched Ambassador network is a group of high-profile business leaders who will represent and promote the interests of the Institue of Directors in their area.

Peter, who is chairman of The Scarborough Business Ambassadors Ltd and chairman of UTC Scarborough Trust, will be the IBA for North Yorkshire.

The University Technical College is being built alongside the new Coventry University campus in a £46m education and sports development due for completion in September 2016.

Peter is an honorary member of the IoD and was awarded Scarborough Business Person of the Year in 2014.

Peter said: “It’s an honour and a privilege to be appointed the first branch ambassador for the IoD in Yorkshire and the Humber. “I will use my business experience and acumen to help promote the IoD as the influential voice of business and enterprise in the region and to enhance Yorkshire’s reputation on the world stage.”

Jonathan Oxley, regional chairman of the IoD in Yorkshire and the Humber, said: “Peter is a respected leader within his business community and I’m very happy that he has agreed to join us as our first Branch Ambassador.

To mark the launch of the Ambassador network the IoD is holding its first dinner in Scarborough on Thursday 22 September.
