A171 at New Bridge in Whitby reopens after emergency services attend incident
The A171 in Whitby has reopened after the police, fire service and ambulance all attended an incident earlier today (January 20)
A police spokesperson said: “Emergency services have dealing with a concern for safety incident on the A171 New Bridge at Whitby involving a man aged in his 30s.
“Police, fire and ambulance were alerted to the location at 11.37am today.
“The bridge was closed to traffic and pedestrians until 2.30pm while police negotiators worked at the scene and the man was recovered to safety by firefighters.
“He was assessed by paramedics and taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment and support.”
