Day care service to relocate to enhance opportunities for older people in Scarborough
A day care service in Scarborough is set to relocate to a new home as part of plans to enhance activities, accessibility and future opportunities for local older people and those living with dementia.
The Lounge Day Care Service will move to Saint Cecilia’s Nursing Home on Filey Road at the end of June, creating a more flexible, community-focused environment for service users and their families.

The move, which is planned from Tuesday June 30, will see the existing day care team transfer to the new setting, ensuring continuity of care and familiar faces for attendees.
The relocation will bring a number of benefits for people using the service, including improved access to community activities and outings, a more central location and the return of freshly prepared chef-cooked meals.
There are also ambitions to expand provision further in the future, including plans to work towards a seven-day service.
Saint Cecilia’s Managing Director, Aaron Padgham said: “This move is all about creating the best possible experience for the people who use The Lounge. By relocating to Saint Cecilia’s Nursing Home, we will be able to offer greater flexibility, more opportunities for engagement and activities, and an enhanced environment for both clients and families.
“Importantly, the familiar and dedicated team that people know and trust will remain in place, helping to ensure a smooth transition and continued high-quality support.”
From June, The Lounge will operate from Saint Cecilia’s Nursing Home on Filey Road.
It will continue to operate as a completely separate service, with its own dedicated team, programme of activities and day care focus.
