Fylingdales Moors blaze attended by fire crews from Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay and Scarborough
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (NYFRS) crews attended a fire on the moors at Fylingdales yesterday (April 15).
The incident occurred on April 15, at approximately 1:55pm. Crews from Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay and Scarborough attended a fire on the moors at Fylingdales.

The fire measured 20mx5m.
Crews used extended hose reel and knapsacks to extinguish the fire and the incident was resolved.
The NYFRS has issued a statement clarifying that this incident is unrelated to the devastating fire at Langdale/Fylingdales Moor last year. The wildfire was declared a major incident on August 12, 2025 and is the biggest fire in the history of the North York Moors National Park.
A NYFRS spokesperson said: “The fire yesterday was believed to have been caused by controlling burning that had been left unattended and spread, so not related to the Langdale/Fylingdales Moor fire from last year.”
