Lightning strike causes power sockets to blow in Gristhorpe, Filey
Fire crews from Scarborough and Filey responded to a report of a telegraph pole that had been struck by lightning on Wednesday evening (March 25).
Firefighters were called to Gristhorpe near Filey, at 8.23pm after the lightning strike created a power surge that affected a number of properties.
The power surge caused electrical sockets to blow and a loss of power.
Crews carried out house to house checks for signs of fire and gave advice to residents.
The incident was left with power company engineers.
