Emergency services respond to casualty on Whitby beach

Emergency services responded to a casualty with an injured knee on Whitby beach yesterday afternoon.

Whitby Coastguard Rescue Team assisted Yorkshire Ambulance Service with the casualty who was located on the beach below West Cliff.

A spokesperson from Whitby Coastguard said: "Due to the casualty's injury and location, assistance was needed to carry them to the waiting ambulance for further assessment and transport to hospital.

"In an emergency on or near the coast dial 999 immediately and ask for the Coastguard."
