North Yorkshire Council issues update on what to do if your bin hasn't been collected

North Yorkshire Council (NYC) has issued information for residents whose bins were not collected during the recent bad weather.

A statement on NYC’s Facebook page on Wednesday (January 7) read: “Due to the icy conditions we are experiencing some disruption to our waste and recycling collections.

“This includes rounds in the Scarborough and Whitby areas.

“Our bin lorries are big and crews are needing additional time to drive safely - we have to prioritise the safety of our crews and other road users.

“If your bin is not collected on your scheduled day then please leave it out and we'll be back to collect it as soon as we can.

“We are sorry for the inconvenience.”
