The force is reminding people to respect the sea mammals and birds while out on the water.
The Yorkshire Coast is important to marine mammals, including whales, dolphins and seals.
Police are asking people to avoid disturbing these animals by:
○ Travelling slowly approaching by the side (do not approach them head-on).
○ Observe them from a distance (by more than 100 metres).
○ Always allow space for the animal to move away from you or any other vessels.
○ Enjoy their company for a maximum of 15 minutes.
A police spokesman said: “Over the past two weekends the RSPCA have made us aware of reports around marine disturbance from jet skis and boats.
“If you participate in water sports around our coastline please respect our sea mammals and birds. Days of action will follow.”
