Filey Ladies Monday Club on track for a wonderful day out

The latest meeting of the Filey Ladies Monday Club took place on a beautiful June day at 9am when 50 suitably dressed ladies boarded the waiting coach to be taken to Pickering and from there to find seats on the steam train with destination Whitby.

The driver waved a welcome to this crown on the platform, and the guards were pleased to escort each person to the booked coach. A delightful step back in time, with all railway staff in uniform and the nostalgic sounds of rattling, puffing and blowing, followed by the hour-long journey through cows, sheep and unspoiled moorland. This was the day of the annual outing, the 50th one, and to be memorably cherished.

It was also the last one before summer break, but not forgetting the traditional organised summer fair for charity. This will be on Friday 15 July at 10am in the Evron Centre, when stalls will be stacked with goods to sell, others with prizes to gamble for and set-up games intended for fun.

All profits this year will go to help those with motorneurone disease, and the club hopes that all of Filey’s residents and the visitors will come along to support this worthy cause.
