The teams from Whitby Goathland and Lythe were deployed to the blaze at the railway embankment at Beck Hole Road in Goathland at 1.28pm.

The sparks, from a passing train, had caused two areas to catch fire - one measuring 30 by 3 metres and the other 20 by 2 metres.

Firefighters used a jet, pump, five backpack sprayers and six beaters to put the fire out.
