Fire started deliberately in Scarborough and crashed car ends up on its roof

A car crash and a fire which was started deliberately led to calls to firefighters yesterday afternoon.

Fire crews were called yesterday to a car that had crashed and landed on its roof. No other vehicles were involved.

The incident happened at 2.43pm on Guisborough Road, Ugthorpe, Whitby

The driver was out of the vehicle and in the care of paramedics when fire crews arrived, who made the vehicle safe.

Later the same day firefighters attended a fire in the open in Scarborough

A picnic bench and an old bed are believed to have been deliberately set on fire on Castle Road at 6.06pm.

Crews put the fire out using a hose reel jet.
