Fires started deliberately in Scarborough

In the last 48 hours fire crews have attended incidents in Scarborough where they believe fires were started deliberately.

Firefighters were called to to College Lane in the early hours of the morning to put out a skip on fire in the open, which was believed to have been deliberately set alight.

One hose reel jet was was used to put out the fire at about 5am on May 6.

Earlier, crews attended a wheelie bin fire on Queens Terrace where firefighters used one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire at about 6pm on May 5.

Fire crews from Scarborough and Filey, and the aerial ladder platform, were called to a small fire in the loft of a house which was caused by an electrical fault in a bathroom extractor fan.

A small amount of damage was caused to the loft space. Crews used a hose reel jet and breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire at a house on Eastway at about 11pm on May 5.
