Insurance boss denies death driving charge

A 48-year-old Malton insurance company boss has appeared in court charged with causing the death of a motorcyclist through careless driving.

Sean McClarron, principal of McClarron Insurance Brokers, denies causing the death of biker Stuart John Green, 26, who was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on the A171 between Whitby and Scarborough.

McClarron, of High Street, Snainton, appeared at York Crown Court on Monday when he entered a not-guilty plea to driving without due care and attention on August 15 last year.

The crash happened at the Gowland Lane junction in Cloughton Moor at about 8.20pm.

Mr Green was riding a silver Yahama motorbike and McClarron was driving a black Range Rover at the time of the accident.

McClarron, who is also Master of the Derwent Hunt, will face trial by jury on November 16.

He was released on unconditional bail until then.
