Letter: Looking for missing army pal of 60 years

My name is Larry Tolar and I am writing to enlist your readers' help in my locating a very dear friend that I met while in Germany (circa 1958) while doing some exchanges with the British Army on the Rhine. We stayed in contact many years.

Searching for missing army pal.

His name is Peter J Knight and he lived at St Andrew’s Road, Yeadon, Leeds. I became concerned when my emails kept coming back as not deliverable, and my calls to his phone received only the message of no longer available. Additionally, the subscription to the Gunner magazine that I provided for him for a number of years was returned as undeliverable.

Evidently, there was no forwarding address for his post.

Constable Kelly Mark of West Yorkshire Police was kind enough to go by the residence and make inquiries on my behalf. The residence has been sold; however, the new residents stated to him that they understood Peter had moved to Scarborough in North Yorkshire.

I contacted Sergeant Neil Horsley of the North Yorkshire Police and he has endeavoured to help me track down Peter.

As I wrote to Sergeant Horsley and PC Mark, I will keep pursuing every lead until I can determine the status of Peter; a friend of 60 years deserves at least that!

Peter has daughters (whose names I can’t provide unfortunately) who may possibly live in Scarborough.

Many thanks for your assistance. I can be contacted at [email protected] with any information.
