Letter: Pedestrian area needs attention now

With regard to your article about improving the way from the town to the seafront (Scarborough News, January 14).

Before anything is done to this area the people involved should first of all walk through and have a look at the poor state of the pedestrian area.

It is in a dreadful condition each time someone digs it up they remove the flagstones and block paving, they never put them back again, they fill with tarmacadam.

This whole pedestrian area wants a complete overhaul. The seats want painting also. Walking through it looks like a Third World town.

I say put the pedestrian area back to what it was in the first place.

After that they may think of improving the lower area. I also think that whoever digs it up should re-instate it to what it was, not put tarmacadam in place of it.
