Letter: Pupils' conduct is a credit to our schools

Recently my friend and I'‹ went to the Stephen Joseph Theatre to see the Christmas production of Pinocchio.
The children were brilliantly behaved, they added to the festive atmosphere. The children were brilliantly behaved, they added to the festive atmosphere.
The children were brilliantly behaved, they added to the festive atmosphere.

We found ourselves the only two ‘independent adults’ in a sea of excited schoolchildren with accompanying teachers. Having recently in London experienced audience members variously comparing shopping, chatting, or snacking during performances, we braced ourselves for distracting (mis)behaviour - but we couldn’t have been more wrong.

The children were riveted by the performance, participating with joyful enthusiasm in all the right ways and places. Even the classic “She’s behind you!” scene must be a challenge ‘in the round’, but the cast pulled it off perfectly. Not only were the children brilliantly behaved, they added to the festive atmosphere, and I’d like to congratulate all the schools on their pupils’ conduct. What a lovely way to get into the Christmas spirit.
