A Whitby man who has a background in craft and design has turned his hand to cartoon animations depicting the Whitby area.

John Lowe, 65, has spent the last few years cutting wooden names on a market stall in Church Street but has now turned his attention to digital software.

He said: “I never had a go at digital art so set myself up with a tablet. I felt cartoon style paintings seem to be me, so I learnt the software and as live near Whitby went for Whitby themes.
