Malton Show is a hit as thousands visit Scampston Park

Chairman Alan Tate-Smith was delighted the show at Scampston Park demonstrated its strong links with rural and agricultural activities as he felt they had to remain at the heart of the show.

“For those who live in rural areas this show reflects part of their fabric,” said Mr Tate-Smith.

“For others it may be an experience they would not get at home such as seeing the livestock and so on with plenty of opportunity to get up close and people do like that,” he continued.

“The general feeling is that it has been very well attended and everyone has been having a great day,” he said.

Fundamental changes were made to the layout last year and a few more changes were made this time following feedback from visitors and exhibitors.

“We welcome any feedback as what other improvements we could make,” he said.

Despite a heavy rainstorm on the Friday night the ground was firm for cars and people milling around.

“We are very lucky to have this venue – it could rain for a week but the sandy ground means it can take it,” said Mr Tate-Smith.
