Man who died in Malton crash is named

Police have named a man from near Malton who died in a crash in North Grimston.

Simon Maving, from Norton, was a passenger in a white Renault van which hit a tree on the B1248 on September 16.

The 49-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say his family are being supported by specially-trained officers.

A 45-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences in connection with the incident. He has been released on bail as enquiries continue.

Police are continuing to appeal for anyone who may have travelled along the B1248 between North Grimston and Malton between 10pm on September 15 and 7.30am on September 16 to get in touch.

They want to hear from anyone going in either direction and who have dashcam footage of the white Renault van.

They also want to speak to anyone who saw the van in the Malton area at around this time.
