The man, in his 20s, was crossing Falsgrave Road near Sainsbury's on Wednesday morning when he suffered serious face injuries.

A vehicle may have been involved but the man cannot remember what happened.

Police say it is possible he was hurt after his head hit the pedestrian railings on the traffic island, knocking him unconscious.
