New housing developments launch

Two new housing developments are launching in and around Leeds this summer, replacing former manufacturing plants.

The Poplars at Roundwood, in Garforth, and The Hawthorns, just off the main ring road, are to go on sale on June 16.

These two developments will both feature homes from Redrow’s Arts and Crafts inspired Heritage Collection, with traditional looking exteriors and period-style features paired with bright modern interiors and open plan living spaces.

Redrow is also gearing up to introduce Aspen Park at Roundwood by August, this time featuring the developer’s Georgian influenced Regent Collection of apartments, townhouses and family homes.

Initially all three developments will be sold off-plan, with fully furnished show homes due to open before the end of the year.

Patsy Aicken, sales director for Redrow Homes (Yorkshire), said: “When added to our Woodlands and The Green developments at Horsforth Vale, these three new sites will give us a strong presence within Leeds; not forgetting that we’ve also been chosen to deliver 292 new homes at Thorpe Park.”

The Poplars and Aspen Park at Roundwood are replacing the old Stocks block manufacturing plant off Ninelands Lane, Garforth, and, between them, will provide 241 new homes in a mix of one, two, three and four-bedroom properties. There will be 36 affordable properties among the total and the site will include open space and a cycle path network connecting the site and surrounding development to Green Lane and East Garforth train station, together with drainage improvements which will benefit the local area.

First to launch, The Poplars, will initially feature three and four-bedroom detached family homes with prices from £332,950 for the four-bedroom detached Shrewsbury. Among them is the Oxford Lifestyle at £384,950, a new generation of homes that are ideal for downsizers or those simply wanting fewer – but larger – bedrooms and no compromise on downstairs space. Built on the footprint of what would normally be a four-bedroom property, instead it has three larger double bedrooms, each of which has an en-suite and the master bedroom also boasts a dressing room.

Coming later, Aspen Park will feature two, three and four-bedroom Regent Collection homes with initial guide prices from £314,950 on first release.

The Hawthorns is replacing surplus land at AGFA Graphics, just off the Leeds Outer Ring Road with 71 new homes. The 11 affordable properties here will be designated for older people and Redrow’s scheme has been designed to enhance the existing Hawthorn Farm nature conservation area which adjoins the site.

Just five miles north east of Leeds and close to shops, schools and other amenities, Redrow’s new development will initially feature three and four-bedroom detached Heritage Collection homes with guide prices on initial release from £309,950.

Part of a package of seven new sites in Yorkshire announced by Redrow earlier this year, these developments will help secure Redrow’s position as one of the region’s leading housebuilders. Operating from regional headquarters in Wakefield, Redrow’s Yorkshire business is responsible for circa 500 new homes per annum and is the current holder of children’s charity Variety’s Yorkshire Residential Property Awards ‘Housebuilder of the Year’ title

Both The Poplars and The Hawthorns will be sold from on-site sales centres until their show homes are ready. The sales centres will usually be open 10am to 5.30pm Thursday to Monday inclusive from Saturday, June 16.
